Elevate Your Playing!
Study music with Jason Ji

I help guitarists grow. Not just in technique; in artistry, confidence, and creativity.

As a scholarship recipient and summa cum laude graduate of Berklee College of Music, I’ve trained under some of the top musicians in the world and bring over a decade of professional performance and teaching experience to each lesson and masterclass. Whether you’re just getting started, preparing for college auditions, or refining your tone and solo arrangements as a pro, I’ll meet you where you are and push you further than you thought possible.

Teaching Philosophy Guitar is not only a musical instrument, but also a medium for self-expression and self-actualization. My teaching begins- and continually returns- to the music that inspires each student, with an emphasis on technical mastery, a solid foundation in music theory, and a holistic readiness for today’s music industry. Drawing from fingerstyle, classical, jazz, rock, and contemporary traditions, I tailor my approach to each student’s goals and preferred genres. Together, we explore the music that moves them, study the greats who shaped it, and build fluency in theory and musicianship. From there, students learn how to follow, bend, or break the “rules” musically- but most of all, having fun while doing it. I also integrate real-world skills such as recording (Logic Pro X, Pro Tools), digital notation (MuseScore, Sibelius), and the effective use of online tools. My goal is to help students not only play well, but think musically, perform meaningfully, and thrive as expressive, adaptable musicians in today’s evolving musical landscape.

Guitar Lessons

Whether you’re starting fresh or refining your tone, these one-on-one lessons focus on fingerstyle, classical, electric or hybrid technique. We’ll build your musical voice through thoughtful practice, customized repertoire, and real-world musicianship.

Composition

Turn your ideas into music that speaks. We’ll explore melodic writing, structure, emotional pacing, and orchestration, from solo pieces to ensemble work, through guided exercises and your own creative instincts.

One-on-one consultation

Book a mentorship session to talk career strategy, gear setups, competition prep, or creative blocks. This is a space to ask anything, get honest feedback, and plan next steps, tailored to your goals as a modern guitarist.

Music Theory

Make theory practical. I’ll help you understand harmony, form, rhythm, and chord function, so you can apply it directly to songwriting, arranging, improvisation, or interpreting repertoire with confidence and clarity.

Arrangements

Want to turn your favorite song into a solo guitar masterpiece? I’ll show you how to blend melody, bass, and harmony into expressive fingerstyle arrangements. Perfect for performance, content, or gifting something personal.

Music Business

Learn what they don’t teach you in school: branding, client communication, rate-setting, licensing, gig booking, and content strategy. Whether you want to tour, teach, or freelance, I’ll help you build something sustainable.

Spots are limited, contact me!

I work closely with a small number of students at a time to ensure each lesson is tailored, thoughtful, and high-impact. Because of this, lesson spots are limited, and I want to make sure each student is a good fit for the kind of focused, creative work we’ll do together.

If you’re interested in studying with me, reach out to secure your spot or schedule a free consultation to see if we’re a great match.
